Aim for the Ace!: The Movie
Ace wo Nerae! (1979)
Freshman Hiromi joins the tennis club mainly because she's a huge fan of Ryuzaki, a senior and the team's star player known for her graceful style—she's even got the nickname "Madame Butterfly." Things get complicated when the new coach, Jin Munakata, decides to throw the inexperienced Hiromi into an upcoming tournament anyway. The pressure nearly pushes Hiromi to quit entirely, but she eventually realizes how much she actually loves playing. She sticks with it, and under Munakata's coaching, her natural talent finally starts to flourish. Over time, Hiromi grows really close to her coach, unaware that Munakata is secretly battling a serious chronic illness that's putting his life at risk.
