Synopsis

"Wake Up, Girls!" follows seven girls in Sendai as they form the idol group WUG and chase their dreams together. Working under the small label Green Leaves Entertainment, they pull off the unlikely—beating the massive national group I-1 club at the Idol Festival to claim victory. Suddenly they're top idols, except the idol industry's in a slump and success turns out to be way more grind than glamour. So they keep grinding anyway, doing the steady work that actually keeps an idol group afloat. Meanwhile, three middle school girls from Sendai—Hayashi Ayumi, Morishima Otome, and Atsugi Itsuka—are watching all this and getting inspired. They're starting to feel that same pull toward idol life themselves.
