In a distant future on a world that might once have been Earth, samurai enhanced their bodies with machinery and waged brutal wars. Eventually, an uneasy peace settled over the land. But peace doesn't feed anyone. The farmers of Kanna Village are starving and constantly hunted by the Nobuseri—mechanized bandits who raid without mercy. Desperate, the villagers decide to hire samurai for protection, even though they have almost nothing to pay with except rice. Kirara, the village's water priestess, takes her younger sister Komachi and a grieving villager named Rikichi on a mission to recruit fighters willing to take on the job. Through luck and narrow escapes, they manage to assemble seven samurai with different skills and backgrounds. What follows is an all-out battle against the bandits and the wealthy merchants who control them. The series is a loose sci-fi adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's classic film Seven Samurai.
