Synopsis

The Monkey King was legendary—basically unbeatable in combat and could move freely between Heaven, Earth, and Hell. But after breaking some major divine laws, the gods imprisoned him in an ice cage buried deep in the mountains, sealed by powers that could actually hold him down. With the Monkey King gone, darkness spreads across China. When monsters attack his village, a young boy escapes into the mountains for shelter and stumbles upon a strange icy pillar wrapped in chains. He touches the ice, shatters the spell, and unleashes the events that kick off Monkey King: Hero is Back.
