Le Chevalier D'Eon
In 18th century Paris, a noblewoman's corpse washes up in the Seine. It's Lia de Beaumont, a spy for King Louis XV—and the sister of a newly knighted nobleman named D'Eon. When people start vanishing across the city, D'Eon suspects his sister's death is connected. He joins the secret police to get answers and track down her killers. As they investigate, the trail leads to a conspiracy involving French and Russian nobility, backed by some kind of cult. D'Eon realizes Lia probably discovered this plot during one of her missions and was murdered for it. The secret police move to arrest the Duke of Orléans, believing he's the ringleader. But the operation goes wrong. One of their own suddenly transforms into a demonic creature—a Gargoyle—and tears through the entire unit. D'Eon fights to save the surviving officer, only to watch him transform as well. In the chaos, Lia's vengeful spirit possesses D'Eon and takes control, using his body to destroy the monster herself. Now D'Eon has to find allies who can help him uncover how deep this supernatural conspiracy really goes.
