Synopsis

Phantoms—ghosts, youkai, and other supernatural creatures—were always written off as myth and legend. That changed when a virus swept through the population and rewired people's brains, literally making the impossible visible. Turns out these beings had been coexisting with humans all along. The virus also gave the younger generation supernatural abilities of their own, which came in handy since someone needed to deal with all the dangerous phantoms now that everyone could see them. Haruhiko Ichijou and Mai Kawakami are two students who got these powers. Haruhiko can summon and seal phantoms through his drawings, while Mai channels elemental energy into her fighting style. They're part of Team E at Hosea Academy, alongside Ruru, a phantom who's actually on their side. It's basically their job to handle the chaos that comes from living in a world where the supernatural and everyday life constantly collide—which, as it turns out, is a lot of chaos.
