Synopsis

Germany's dealing with a serious problem: creatures called Amalgams that spawn from corpses and merge with machinery to become even more dangerous. They exist basically just to destroy things, and society's in shambles because of it. The government responds by creating the Xenogenesis Assault Team—XAT for short—tasked with stopping them. But there's a wrinkle: some humans are becoming Amalgams too, and unlike the mindless ones, these retain their intelligence and are way more lethal. Joseph Jobson is one of these human Amalgams, and he's got full control over what he can do. He's been doing fine flying solo until he crosses paths with Gerd Frentzen, a newly-transformed Amalgam, which puts him on XAT's radar as a serious threat. While he's running from them and trying to find people he can trust, Joseph gets transformed into something else entirely—the Blassreiter, supposedly the most powerful Amalgam ever created. Now he's got to use his new abilities to fight back and figure out what's really going on: his own past and the truth behind the whole Amalgam outbreak.
