Synopsis

It's 2017, and the Holy Britannian Empire is steamrolling through Europe. The military's hemorrhaging soldiers and needs a solution fast, so they form a special unit called Wyvern—W-0 for short—made up of Japanese people, or "Elevens" as they're called. These recruits, pulled from ghettos and refugee camps, pilot giant mecha called Knightmare frames on suicide missions, betting their lives on the hope of earning some kind of recognition. When a European regiment gets trapped trying to hold a strategic city, W-0 gets called in for the rescue. Lieutenant Akito Hyuuga, a pilot with a fearsome reputation as "Hannibal's Ghost," is sent in with the rest. But things go south fast. The commanding officer, desperate to maximize casualties on the enemy side, triggers the self-destruct sequence on the Knightmares. When the dust settles, Akito's the only one left alive.
