Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari
Mononogatari
Saenome are tasked with sealing spirits that possess objects—known as tsukumogami—and pose a threat to society. Most of these spirits are harmless, and saenome typically handle them with nothing more than a quick conversation before sealing them away. Hyouma Kunato isn't following protocol. Traumatized by a past encounter with a deadly spirit, he's rejected peaceful methods entirely and now physically confronts every tsukumogami he meets. His grandfather, Zouhei, sees this as a problem—especially since Hyouma's supposed to lead the clan one day. Zouhei's solution: Hyouma moves in with Botan Nagatsuki, whose entire family consists of six tsukumogami. Shape up, or face excommunication. Hyouma accepts the arrangement, though not because he's reformed. He's still hunting for the spirit that destroyed his life, and he's betting this living situation might lead him to answers. But as malevolent spirits start destabilizing the balance between worlds, Hyouma finds himself in an unexpected position: he has to earn Botan's trust and come to terms with the family he's been taught to hate.
