Synopsis

Makoto Edamura's been scraping by as a small-time con artist and pickpocket in Japan when he gets played by what looks like an easy mark—a clueless tourist. Turns out the joke's on him: not only did the guy outcon him, but the cops are now on his tail. While running from the law, Makoto crosses paths with the tourist again. Except he's not a tourist at all—he's Laurent Thierry, a smooth-talking international con man. Makoto's pride takes over. He's supposed to be Japan's greatest swindler, so he challenges Laurent to prove it. Laurent's down for the competition and takes him to LA, where he points to a massive mansion and casually drops that their mark is the biggest mob boss on the entire West Coast. What Makoto doesn't realize is that he's just stepped into the deep end. As he gets pulled deeper into Laurent's world of high-stakes international cons and meets his eccentric crew, he discovers that his street-level scams don't mean much anymore. He's way out of his depth, and every con tests him in ways he never expected.
