Aine Yuuki is a regular student at Star Harmony Academy who meets Mio Minato, an idol in the school's idol division. Mio invites Aine to join the Aikatsu program, which helps her achieve her goal of making friends. Along the way, Aine befriends fellow idols Maika Chōno and Ema Hinata. Aine and Mio become best friends and form a pair known as "Diamond Friends," joining the elite Diamond Class alongside another Diamond Friends pair: Karen Kamishiro and Mirai Asuku.
