Synopsis

Daisuke Higashida is a straightforward first-year student at Higashizaka High School. His everyday life is pretty unremarkable, though his family's constant serious attitude gets on his nerves. Everything changes when his father's company suddenly goes under, leaving the family broke. Daisuke's allowance, phone bills, and commuter pass are all gone. His father tells him he needs to get a job, so Daisuke picks up work at a nearby family restaurant—partly to earn money, but also to avoid the brutal daily commute of 15 kilometers to school by bike.
