Synopsis

Academy City is Japan's hub of cutting-edge science, sitting about thirty years ahead of the rest of the world. What makes it really unique is that over three-quarters of the population are students—all there to develop psychic powers and become espers. Touma Kamijou is one of these students, except he's got a problem: he has literally zero psychic ability. But he's got something way weirder instead—a power called "Imagine Breaker" that lets him cancel out supernatural abilities entirely. Scientists have no idea how it even works. For the most part, Touma just lives like a normal high school kid. until he stumbles across Index, a girl who's memorized every single forbidden grimoire in existence. Now dangerous organizations are after her, and magicians are hunting her down. Touma decides he's going to protect her no matter what, which throws him headfirst into a whole world of magic and the supernatural he never knew existed.
