Synopsis

At the orphanage where Sheena Totsuki lives, death is treated like any other school announcement. The children here are raised as soldiers for a war that's been grinding on for years with no end in sight—kids die in combat constantly, and nobody really blinks. Sheena's different though. While the other orphans have accepted their fate, she can't stop being disturbed by it all. The night after her roommate dies, Sheena encounters a blood-soaked girl who's somehow cheerful about the whole thing. The next day, that same girl shows up as a new student in her class, introducing herself as Mimi Kagari. Mimi's basically a legend at the orphanage—supposedly an unkillable weapon they've been hiding. She gets assigned as Sheena's new roommate and genuinely wants to befriend her and fit in. The problem is, Mimi's way too casual about the war for Sheena to handle. But despite their clashing perspectives on their bleak reality, an unlikely friendship starts to grow between them anyway.
