Synopsis

Hagemaru Hageda is a fourth-grade kid living with his parents in Japan. As an only child, he's grown up in a household obsessed with saving money—and that obsession basically is the show. Everything revolves around the family's extreme frugality and the ridiculous lengths they'll go to avoid spending anything. His pet dog Pesu is constantly calling out how cheap his owners are, especially since the dog never gets fed properly. Hagemaru's best friend is his classmate Masaru Kondo, and he has a crush on Midori, another girl at school. Most episodes follow Hagemaru through his day at school, dealing with his teacher and hanging out with friends. Each episode wraps up with a top ten segment.
