Synopsis

Ageha Yoshina is a confident high school student who makes money helping people out. One day he finds a weird calling card stamped with "Psyren" in a phone booth and pockets it without really thinking about it. The next day, he's shocked to discover his classmate Sakurako Amamiya has an identical card. When he confronts her about it, she begs him to save her—and that's when things go downhill fast. Sakurako disappears, leaving Ageha completely lost. Desperate for answers, he calls the number on the card. A mysterious voice asks him a series of questions, culminating in one that changes everything: "Would you like to go to Psyren?" Before he knows it, both he and Sakurako are trapped in a deadly game set in a nightmarish world full of monsters called Taboo. Armed with newfound psychic powers called PSI, the two have to fight their way back home—if they can survive long enough to figure out how.
