Synopsis

Humans and demons (youkai) share the same streets, though humans can't see the demons walking among them. For ages, a young woman named Yurine and her servant the Karas—a crow-like protector—have kept the peace between the two worlds, making sure demons stay hidden and don't mess with human life. But humans have gotten comfortable, even dismissive of demons, and they've forgotten how lucky they really are. Fed up with human arrogance, an elderly Karas named Eko abandons his post and creates an army of Mikura—mechanized demons—to wage war on humanity. Enter Otoha, a young man who inherits the Karas powers and becomes Yurine's new partner. She claims his soul reached out to her during his human life. Now Otoha has to step up as the new Karas and stop Eko from destroying the balance between worlds. Meanwhile, a superstitious police detective named Sagisaka and his by-the-book partner Kure are investigating a string of murders caused by Eko's Mikura. They're also tracking a rogue Mikura named Nue. As the investigation unfolds, a major prophecy emerges—one that will shake everything in the city.
