This coming-of-age battle anime follows Date Masamune during his younger years, focusing on the legendary 17th-century Japanese warlord before he became famous. The Date clan got its name from the Date region in what used to be Mutsu province—now part of the modern city of Date. It's the first anime project under the city's "Kirari na Wonder Project," basically a tourism initiative designed to showcase local attractions and what makes the region worth visiting. Gainax's new Fukushima studio is handling production and plans to wrap things up by the end of March.
