The 4:44 ritual is an urban legend about using a radio to emit specific frequencies in front of the Akeyuki Sacred Tree at exactly 4:44—supposedly a gateway to another dimension. Asuka Tsuchimiya and her friends from the Crystal Radio Research Club—Nana Nanase, Mia Silverstone, Yuu Tounaka, and Chloe Morisu—decide to test it out. To their shock, it actually works. They're transported to a parallel world where they encounter an unsettling doppelgänger: Asuka's alternate self. This version of Asuka, nicknamed Seriouska for her serious demeanor and combat skills, brings urgent news. A force called the Twilight is consuming all the parallel worlds, destroying their possibilities one by one. Seriouska has been hunting the Twilight King—the man responsible for the destruction—trying to stop him before he wipes out the entire multiverse. The story follows the five girls as they travel between worlds searching for the Twilight King, all while learning to come to terms with who they really are. But stopping the Twilight might not require the desperate search they've embarked on.
