Professor Sycamore and Alexa stumble across some ancient ruins and find a stone statue of a woman named Aila. The discovery kicks off a legend that's been lost to time. Turns out Aila had a lover named Jan who tried to take down Yveltal, the Destruction Pokémon. He didn't succeed—Yveltal went into a cocoon form and drained all the life from the land, turning Aila to stone in the process. Jan didn't give up though. He hunted down Xerneas, the Life Pokémon, hoping to bring the barren region back. While it restored Kalos, it couldn't undo what happened to Aila. When things got really out of balance, Zygarde showed up and set things right again. In the end, Jan just stayed with Aila's petrified form as the whole cycle of creation and destruction kept spinning.
