Shinseikiden Mars
A journalist named Iwakura stumbles across an amnesiac guy on a newly formed volcanic island. When word gets out, a mysterious figure named Rush tracks him down and drops a bombshell: the kid's name is Mars, and he's an alien. He was sent to Earth with a grim assignment—command a massively powerful robot called Gaia to destroy the planet if humans ever try to expand into space. There's a catch though: Gaia is rigged to self-destruct and take Earth with it if Mars dies. Since Mars has lost his memory, Rush cuts him a deal: ten days to learn about humanity and make his choice. Mars now has to decide whether to go through with destroying Earth or find a way to save it instead.
