Synopsis

Mikan Sakura is your typical cheerful, energetic 10-year-old—basically the opposite of her best friend Hotaru Imai, who's cool, smart, and kind of distant. Despite being total opposites, they've been inseparable forever. So when Hotaru suddenly transfers to Alice Academy, an exclusive school in the city, Mikan freaks out. And it doesn't help that she's heard all these scary rumors about how harsh the place is. Worried sick, Mikan does what any desperate kid would do: she runs away to find her friend. When she gets there, Mikan discovers that "Alices" are people born with supernatural powers, and the academy is basically a government facility designed to train and protect them. Turns out Mikan has her own special ability too, so she enrolls. After causing some chaos and finally tracking down Hotaru, the two are reunited. From there, Gakuen Alice becomes a fun, heartwarming series about Mikan and her new friends navigating life at the academy while trying to figure out what's going on with Natsume Hyuuga—a moody, fire-wielding student who seems to be at the center of something bigger.
