Synopsis

Giovanni's a lonely kid living on the edge of a small village. His mom's sick and stuck in bed, and his dad never came back from a fishing job. He doesn't fit in at school, but he's got one real friend—Campanella, whose father's the mayor. During the town's Festival of Stars, Giovanni's daydreaming on a hilltop when he spots something impossible: a steam train floating in the sky. He climbs aboard and finds Campanella's already there waiting for him. What follows is a strange journey through the stars, where they meet all kinds of peculiar people and pass through places that are beautiful and unsettling in equal measure.
