Taichi and his friends have moved on to junior high and lost touch with their Digimon partners—so he's caught off guard when a distress call suddenly pulls him back to the Digital World. There he discovers something troubling: a mysterious figure called the Digimon Emperor has taken over, and he's somehow blocking Digimon from being able to Digivolve. Back in the real world, Taichi's younger sister Hikari and their friend Takeru end up in the same fifth grade class, where they meet three new kids: Daisuke, who's got a lot of Taichi's attitude; Miyako, a tech-savvy girl; and Iori, Miyako's quiet neighbor. When Daisuke, Miyako, and Iori all get D-3 Digivices, they join Hikari and Takeru—who still have their original devices—as the next set of Chosen Children. Armed with Armored Digi-Eggs and their new powers, this group has to stop the Digimon Emperor from taking over the entire Digital World.
