Fifteen years after civilization collapsed, man-eating monsters now dominate the ruins, threatening what's left of humanity. A secluded facility keeps a group of children safe and sheltered from this nightmare—until some of them start learning about the world outside and become obsessed with knowing more. Outside those walls, two young survivors named Maru and Kiruko are on their own quest: they're searching for a place called Heaven, though they each have their own reasons for wanting to find it. Both are carrying heavy baggage and dark secrets from their pasts. They're hoping Heaven might offer answers to the horrors they've seen in their lives and in a world that's still falling apart.
