Synopsis

In ancient Liang, dead bodies occasionally become hosts for souls arriving from 2,000 years in the future—time travelers who bring futuristic knowledge and skills that both fascinate and alarm the emperor. A peaceful-minded time traveler named Lou Zhu falls in love with Zuo Yunqi, a nobleman, and works toward finding a way for both groups to coexist. But tensions spiral out of control when a massive explosion occurs. Lou Zhu sacrifices himself trying to prevent catastrophe and ends up trapped under a collapsed mountain, his survival unknown. Six months later, the emperor uses the disaster as an excuse to hunt down every time traveler in Liang. Meanwhile, a militant faction called the Pioneers, led by Jiaoran, sees the chaos as their chance to seize power and arm themselves with modern weapons against the throne. Both the court and the Pioneers become obsessed with one thing: finding Lou Zhu, who's rumored to be alive and healing somewhere in the martial arts underworld. The stage is set for a three-way conflict—and Lou Zhu has become the key to everything.
