El-Hazard: The Wanderers
Shinpi no Sekai El-Hazard (TV)
High school science whiz Makoto Mizuhara is prepping a project for the school festival with his best friend Nanami Jinnai when her brother Katsuhiko—the student council president and Makoto's longtime rival—sabotages his device out of paranoia. The sabotage accidentally opens a portal that sucks all four of them, along with their teacher Masamichi Fujisawa, into another world. Makoto gets separated and is immediately attacked by giant insectoid monsters. He escapes and runs into Fujisawa, who's with a girl named Rune Venus. After Fujisawa drives the creatures off, a group of palace officials shows up looking for Rune—she's actually the princess of a kingdom called Roshtaria. They bring Makoto and Fujisawa back to the palace, where Rune quickly befriends Makoto despite some suspicion from her advisors. Makoto has no idea that Nanami and Jinnai are somewhere in this world too, and he focuses on figuring out how to get everyone home.
