Japan faces a mysterious threat: giant monsters that suddenly appear without warning. To defend against them, the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute created the Shinkalions—transformable robots based on high-speed trains. As new and stronger enemies emerge, the institute develops an upgraded model called Shinkalion Z, along with support vehicles called Zailiners that transform from regular trains to boost the robot's power. A group of kids with high compatibility ratings become the pilots of these new Shinkalions, partnering with institute staff to take on the returning monsters. The story begins when unknown enemies strike again—and two boys meet for the first time.
