Effera and Jiliora manage to escape from a slave ship with help from their friend Orlin and a kid named Kilian. Things go wrong though—Kilian gets killed during the getaway. Determined to honor him, Effera and Jiliora decide to deliver his pendant to his two siblings, who are imprisoned by Baron Celdion. The baron's got bigger ambitions anyway; he's working on conquering the neighboring kingdoms.
