Atsushi Nakajima's been blamed for a string of bizarre incidents at his orphanage—specifically, a mystical tiger that only he can't seem to see. At eighteen, he's kicked out without explanation and ends up starving and homeless on the streets. Things change when he saves a drowning man named Osamu Dazai from the river. Dazai's an oddball with a death wish, but he's also a supernatural detective investigating the same tiger plaguing Atsushi. With help from his partner Doppo Kunikida, Dazai solves the mystery—but not before Atsushi gets caught up in something bigger. One way or another, he ends up joining their detective agency, which handles the kind of weird cases regular cops won't touch. His new coworkers are just as strange as the jobs they take on.
