Synopsis

Set in early 1900s Japan during a period of rapid modernization and social change, this story follows Benio Hanamura, a tomboy who refuses to accept traditional gender roles. While most women of her time are expected to marry and manage households, Benio dreams of something more. Her one real ally in this pursuit is Lieutenant Shinobu Ijuin, who genuinely supports her independence—until he disappears in action. When Shinobu eventually returns to Japan, he's lost his memory entirely and doesn't recognize who he really is. Now facing an arranged marriage to another man, Benio has to figure out if she can reach Shinobu and help him remember before it's too late.
