Synopsis

A divine messenger shows up in Zhao Ge to deliver the will of Heaven, but Emperor Zi Zhou of the Shang dynasty isn't having it. He flat-out refuses to submit to the gods and declares he's done with their control. Unsurprisingly, the gods don't react well to this. Wu Jifa, the emperor of a neighboring kingdom, launches a military campaign against the Shang with Heaven's blessing. The Shang army gets completely overwhelmed during the battle, and things look dire as the enemy closes in on the capital. Zhou decides to join the fighting himself. He manages to cut through the enemy lines and push toward Jifa, but then a god literally drops out of the sky to confront him directly.
