Synopsis

Marika Katou is a high school student juggling club activities and a waitressing job in a future where space travel is routine. One day, she runs into a strange pair of customers again and learns they've got bad news: her absent father has died. Turns out he was a legendary space pirate known as "Gonzaemon." He's left her his ship, the Bentenmaru, along with its entire crew. Better yet, he also left behind one of the last few Letters of Marque still in circulation—basically a government license to commit piracy legally. Now Marika has to decide: keep her normal high school life, or step into her father's shoes as a space pirate captain. The inheritance doesn't stay quiet for long. Government agencies start paying attention, and a mysterious new transfer student named Chiaki Kurihara shows up, apparently interested in whether Marika can live up to her father's fearsome reputation. If the Bentenmaru's crew wants to stay relevant, they'll need to head back into space and rebuild their name as pirates worth fearing.
