When 7G Network technology launched, it was supposed to revolutionize everything. Instead, it turned Japan into a nightmare. The landscape warped, people mutated into animals, and civilization as anyone knew it basically collapsed. Agano is one of the last functioning towns left, but there's a catch—every adult over 21 has transformed into some kind of animal. Shizuru Chikura, a high school student living in Agano, is looking for her friend Youka Nakatomi. She spots a newspaper photo showing Youka in Ikebukuro and decides to go find her. The problem is that public transportation is basically gone. Lucky for her, Tairo Zenjirou, the town's only human adult and a former train conductor, teaches her how to operate an old abandoned train. So Shizuru sets out on her journey. But on the day she's supposed to leave, three of her classmates—Nadeshiko Hoshi, Reimi Kuga, and Akira Shinonome—show up and decide to join her. What starts as a simple trip to find one friend becomes something way more dangerous than anything they've dealt with back home in Agano.
