Lupin's hunting for treasure on the ocean floor, hoping to impress Fujiko in the process. While Zenigata pursues them across sea and land, the gang starts noticing people disappearing without explanation. Then Mamo Kyosuke shows up in a blaze of light, claiming he's from the future and wants payback against Lupin III for something Lupin XIII did to him. Mamo tosses Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, and Zenigata five centuries into the past, where two rival factions are battling over control of a legendary shrine connected to time travel. Now Lupin has to figure out how to survive in the past and make it back to secure his future. The film is a remake of episode 13 from the original series.
