Battle Skipper
Bishoujo Yuugekitai Battle Skipper
This is actually a three-part OAV from 1995, not a feature film. Takashi Watanabe directed it before moving on to Slayers. The Etiquette Club at St. Ignacio's School for Girls stumbles into a weird situation—literally falling down a hole—where they gain access to skimpy pilot suits and the Battle Skippers, cutting-edge military mecha with an admittedly terrible name. As "Extars," these girls take on the absurd schemes of Sayaka, a rich and cruel president of the rival Debutante Club, and her sidekick Todo, all in the name of fighting evil. The whole thing was basically made to sell robot toys from Tomy, so it's exactly as ridiculous as it sounds. If you can roll with high school girl drama escalating into satellite weapon combat, you'll probably find these silly adventures pretty entertaining.
