In the final showdown against Kanagawa's Sidewinder street racing crew, Takumi Fujiwara from Project D gets an unexpected opponent: Shinji Inui, a 17-year-old high schooler. Shinji's been driving since he was a kid and knows the mountain pass inside and out—plus he's got the same Toyota AE86 that Takumi drives. At first Shinji's not really interested in racing, but he gets fired up after watching Keisuke and Gou tear it up on the track. Since he's undefeated on his home turf, the Tsubaki Line, he could end up being Takumi's toughest challenge yet.
