Synopsis

Captain Tsubasa follows an obsessed 11-year-old soccer player named Tsubasa Oozora. While his friends treat soccer as just another sport, Tsubasa lives and breathes it. Determined to take his game to the next level, he moves with his mother to Nankatsu city, which has a reputation for serious youth soccer programs. It's a big step up from his hometown—he'd been the best player around, but Nankatsu is full of talented kids, and he has to prove himself all over again. Along the way he meets Sanae Nakazawa, an athletic girl who becomes his friend, and Genzo Wakabayashi, a goalkeeper with the same drive and passion that Tsubasa has. The two click immediately and become each other's biggest supporters. Tsubasa's ultimate goal is representing Japan in the FIFA World Cup, but he quickly learns that raw talent alone won't get him there. He's got to put in the work, grow as a player, and push through the competition standing in his way.
