Humanity's on the verge of collapse, squeezed into a single city-state called Flandore where people live behind protective glass domes. Outside lurk deadly lycanthropes that own the darkness. Inside, society's split between nobles and commoners—and only nobles have noble blood that lets them tap into mana, giving them superhuman powers useful for fighting monsters. Melida Angel is a 13-year-old noble with a problem: she hasn't awakened her mana yet, and the kids at her elite academy won't let her forget it. Her family hires Kufa Vampir as her tutor to help, but there's a catch. Kufa's got secret orders to kill her if he determines she's genuinely powerless. After investigating Melida, Kufa decides she's a lost cause. Then he watches her fight. Her sheer guts and self-belief shake him enough that instead of carrying out the assassination, he teaches her how to actually unlock her mana. From that point on, Kufa's all in—hiding the truth from both the Angel family and his own organization, knowing full well what he's risking.
