Synopsis

Twelve thousand years ago, the Shadow Angels attacked Earth to drain humanity's life force. Somehow they went dormant, and humans got a long reprieve. But eleven years after a catastrophe called the Holy Genesis devastated the planet, the Shadow Angels woke up and came back for round two. To fight back, an organization called DEAVA was created and given a giant robot called Aquarion. The catch is that Aquarion only reaches full power when three pilots merge their hearts, bodies, and souls together—which is basically impossible for most people. So DEAVA started hunting for "Element Users," people capable of pulling off this fusion. Sousei no Aquarion follows Apollo, a rough kid who grew up poor and might be a legendary hero reincarnated. When the Shadow Angels snatch his best friend, he decides to become an Aquarion pilot. The question is whether he can actually turn the war around and save humanity from extinction.
