Aoi Hitomi no Onnanoko no Ohanashi
The story takes place in a small mountain village in Kōchi Prefecture during World War II. The war has left its mark even in this remote corner of Japan—locals have come to see Americans and British as brutal enemies after losing relatives in combat. A girl named Eiko transfers to the village school from Yokohama, and her blue eyes—inherited from her American father—immediately make her a target. Her classmates bully her relentlessly, and most of the teachers are just as hostile. Only her homeroom teacher Akiko shows her any kindness. But there's one boy, Kenta, who's more curious about Eiko than hostile toward her. Everything shifts when Kenta's classmate's father returns from the war severely wounded, and word arrives that more soldiers have been killed.
