Betterman
Keita Aono is your typical high school guy—he hangs out with friends talking about military hardware and checking out girls. That changes when his childhood friend Hinoki Sai shows up as a transfer student, and he's genuinely excited to reconnect with her. But when he tries to catch her after school, he accidentally stumbles into Bottom World, an abandoned underground amusement park that was shut down years ago following some kind of disaster. While exploring, Keita finds Hinoki sitting in the cockpit of a bizarre robot. Turns out she's working for Akamatsu Industries, which contracts with a shadowy international organization called Mode Warp to investigate violent incidents around the globe. When Keita joins her in the robot, things immediately go south—the park's attractions have somehow come alive and turned hostile. They can't get out until a mysterious guy with transformation abilities shows up to help them fight. The guy gets called "Betterman." Now stuck dealing with an enemy he can't figure out and a ton of weird technology he doesn't understand, Keita gets pulled into working for Akamatsu Industries. The organization's fighting something they've labeled "Algernon," and Keita's about to find out just how deep this rabbit hole goes.
