Daimos
Toushou Daimos
The third installment in Tadao Nagahama's Romance Super Robot Trilogy, following Combattler V and Voltes V. When the planet Barm is destroyed, its survivors set their sights on Earth with a simple goal: buy some land and start over. The negotiations go catastrophically wrong when Leon, the Barmian leader, is assassinated by his own second-in-command, Olban. Earth's delegation gets framed for the murder, and in the chaos, Doctor Isamu Ryuuzaki—one of Earth's negotiators—is killed. What follows is brutal. The Barmians launch a full-scale terror campaign against Earth, now under the command of Leon's son, Admiral Richter. He hurls wave after wave of Mecha Soldiers at the planet, and only one thing can stop them: Daimos, a transforming super robot that fights with karate, piloted by Kazuya Ryuuzaki. But everything gets complicated when Kazuya meets and falls in love with a girl named Erika—who happens to be Richter's sister. As the two struggle to be together despite the war raging around them, they both start to realize the same thing: neither side is entirely good or evil. It's a messy, human conflict hidden behind all the giant robots and explosions.
