Kuro It's summer 1945 in Hiroshima. A girl named Nobuko rescues a starving kitten from a group of crows and decides she wants to keep it. Her parents aren't keen on the idea at first, but she manages to wear them down. She and her brother Makoto name the cat Kuro, and the little kitten quickly becomes a source of joy and laughter for the whole family. But Japan's situation is deteriorating as World War II drags on, and keeping Kuro fed becomes increasingly difficult. Then one August morning, something changes—Kuro starts acting strange.
