When pilot Chirico Cuvie gets reassigned to Planet Odon, he's thrown into what's supposed to be a training exercise with the other new recruits. Turns out it's actually a brutal weeding-out process—they're literally trying to eliminate soldiers who don't cut it. Chirico makes it through despite being already wounded, along with just three others. It quickly becomes clear this isn't his first brush with impossible odds.
