Synopsis

Kimichika Haijima, a talented setter, moves back to Fukui after getting kicked out of his Tokyo school due to some volleyball team drama. He reconnects with his childhood friend Yuni Kuroba, who plays for Monshiro Middle School's volleyball team but has no idea how good he actually is. Haijima sees the potential and decides they should build a team around Kuroba as the ace. Things fall apart at the prefectural tournament though—Kuroba chokes under pressure, the team loses, and the whole thing creates a rift between the two friends. Haijima bails on the team after that. Fast forward to high school: Haijima and Kuroba end up on the same team at Seiin High. This time around, Haijima's learned his lesson and helps Kuroba work through his anxiety issues so he can finally step up as the ace. With team captain Shinichirou Oda and vice captain Misao Aoki backing them up, Seiin's got a real shot at the prefecturals and a ticket to nationals. There's just one problem—they have to get past Fukuho Technical, the defending champs. Can Haijima's team actually pull it off, or are they just destined to repeat the same failure?
