When an alien species called Pillars nearly wipes out humanity, a mysterious god named Odin steps in and grants people the power of Valkyries—elite female pilots who fly vintage aircraft known as Hero Wings to fight back. Claudia Bruford, Europe's top Valkyrie, earned the grim nickname "Grim Reaper" for a reason: she's the only survivor from every mission she's been on. When Japan loses their S-class Valkyrie in combat, Claudia gets transferred there as a replacement. She figures it out pretty quickly—she's basically being used as expendable cannon fodder again. But when she joins the Tateyama Valkyrie Wing, she discovers her new squad isn't interested in her reputation. They're weird, chaotic, and determined to treat her like an actual person instead of a walking bad omen.
