Synopsis

Setsu Sawamura bails on his quiet village after his grandfather dies. Matsugorou was a legendary shamisen player, and his last words to Setsu were basically: quit if you're just going to copy everyone else. So Setsu heads to Tokyo hoping the city's energy will help him find his own sound. Instead, Tokyo's just loud and chaotic—not inspiring at all. His mom Umeko, who's rich and successful, shows up concerned about him and forces him into Umezono Academy. That's where he meets Shuri Maeda, a girl obsessed with Tsugaru shamisen who wants to perform a song her grandmother heard years ago. Shuri starts a shamisen club and ropes Setsu into teaching the other members. As he gets pulled deeper into the club, he has to figure out if he can actually fall back in love with the shamisen and develop the unique style his grandfather demanded from him.
