Synopsis

Aging zookeeper Toshio Nishiyama brings on two young trainees: Takeshi Ishizawa, a hot-headed former chef, and Ichiro Hasegawa, a gentle veterinarian. Both quickly discover that working at a zoo is way harder than it looks. They deal with escaped pelicans, dying camels, hippo births—the usual chaos. The whole thing is loosely based on Nishiyama's real experiences at Tobu Animal Park, and he actually appears at the start and end to chat about his passion for animals. Plot twist: Ishizawa is basically a younger version of himself, a reflection of who he used to be.
