It's 2002, and the Marine Express—humanity's first underwater train connecting America and Japan—is about to set sail on its maiden voyage. The chief engineer is worried the test run might be exploited for something shady, so he brings in private detective Ban Shunsaku. When Shunsaku shows up at the engineer's mansion, he finds him already dead. With only a brief look at the killer's face to go on, Shunsaku boards the Marine Express to track them down. But this case turns out to be way more complicated than a simple murder—the train itself is hiding some serious secrets.
